Known as the Zimmer Durom Cup Hip Implant. The Zimmer Durom Hip Implant was used successfully in Europe over 12,000 times before it was introduced to the American market in 2006. For some reason the success rate here in the US has not been stellar which has resulted in patients here in the US being required to undergo serious revision surgeries to resove their issues. They do agree on, however, that physicians have suffered from lack of the necessary training concerning the proper procedures for properly performing the implant and that this lack of training has been instrumental in the failure of the replacement surgeries.

Something to ponder, the company providing the hip implants, Zimmer has voluntarily halted all US based sales of their implant device until they can put toghether a better training program for surgeons.
